Glass room in Southam
3 × 4 m

The brief

A modern brick home in Southam with a smart porcelain patio and a compact garden. The owners wanted a proper outdoor seating area they could use all year round, in keeping with the house and sitting comfortably within the garden.

What we built

A 3 × 4 m glass room in anthracite aluminium (RAL 7016) with a clear toughened-glass roof and sliding glass walls. The glass walls slide fully to one side, so on a warm day the room becomes an open veranda; when the wind picks up, it closes in seconds. The anthracite frame sits neatly against the brick and matches the fencing and rainwater goods.

The details

The room is built directly on the existing patio, with the frame fixed to the house wall above the French doors. Integrated guttering is built into the front beam. With rattan seating and a few planters, the space works as an extra living room.

The result

A bright, sheltered room that adds real living space to a compact garden – and a good example of how well a glass room suits a modern home in Warwickshire.
